Baviaans (Hiking in the greater St Francis)

The wilderness area between Patensie and Willowmore lies mostly in the vast wild kloofs and krantzes of the Kouga and Baviaanskloof Mountains.

The 21km stretch of beach is an easy walk during low tide. You will come across middens and maybe see the odd fisherman.

The 180 ha area of the Kabeljous River estuary is a very important habitat for water birds, many of which are migratory.

A walk to Jeffreys Bay during low tide will take you up to three hours, and is an easy walk.

The main beach is about 3km long, and is walkable during low tide only.
